DLN is partnering with Calton’s Landscaping to get involved in a grass roots effort to get supplies to Western NC in the wake of Hurricane Helene as those communities struggle to rebuild.

DLN will donate the use of the trailer that will be filled by the our employees as well as the general public with supplies, which will be parked in a DLN loading bay.

Drop off donations can be added to the trailer between the hours of 8am – 5 pm at 6147 Valduga Dr. SW Suite C, Byron Center, MI 49315. Trailer located behind building in loading bay. Receipts are not available.

Trailer will be on site at DLN’s offices until it is filled, then volunteers will drive it down for distribution based on the needs at that time to officially registered charity sites accepting donations.

Hurricane Milton is being monitored closely as well so needs for supplies will continue.

Donations will begin Wednesday Oct. 9, 2024 until trailer is filled.

  • Water
  • Trash bags
  • Batteries

Prefer to Donate Financially?

There are many ways to donate financially – from large organizations like the American Red Cross, which has thousands of volunteers on the ground providing shelter, meals and support – to small organizations like Mountain Mule Packers which is delivering supplies to areas without road access. Best practices for financial donations include:

  • Donate Directly: Always give to known organizations rather than relying on others to pass along your donations.
  • Verify Charities: Before donating, check the legitimacy of an organization through trusted online resources to confirm they are registered as a 501c3.
  • Watch for Similar Names: Be aware of look-alike charity names that may confuse you with legitimate organizations.
  • Choose Payment Methods Wisely: If possible, avoid cash donations. Pay by credit card or write checks directly to the charity, not to individuals.
  • Know the Signs of Legitimate Charities: Legitimate organization websites often end with .org.
