PRODecant
PRODecant is a state-of-the-art solution automating a repetitive and labor-intensive task in your facility. By streamlining the process of decanting – opening and emptying cartons into totes – it improves the utilization of your workforce and boosts efficiency. With PRODecant, the once manual task is now fully automated, mitigating the risk of injuries and reducing labor.
What Is PRODecant?
PRODecant is a robotic cell that automates the decanting process.
How Does PRODecant Work?
Using adjustable blades, PRODecant fully cuts and removes the bottom of a case without damaging the product. Contents empty, via gravity, into a tote and the empty corrugate is discarded.
Why Choose PRODecant?
The original automated decanting solution, PRODecant features high throughput, a compact layout, dynamic cut adjustments, and patented technology for cutting cartons and transferring products.

Yes, the cell can be configured to fit into an existing operation. Our team can work with you to determine the best layout and implementation strategy.
Does PRODecant prevent cutting and damaging product?
The unique aspect of PRODecant is the ability to cut a case on the bottom without damaging the product. We have done extensive studies and run thousands of cases to verify the positive results.
What is the throughput rate?
The rate is approx. 7 Cases Per Minute, dependent on case dimensions and type.
What is cutting the case?
A proprietary technology has been developed by DLN to use a standard blade to perform the cutting. The blade can adjust up, down, in, out, and at a specific angle. The blade is passed along a fixed case. The cut can be adjusted for different SKU’s to handle variations in the packaging material.
How often do the blades need to be replaced?
The cutter has a magazine of (75) blades that is easy to exchange when needed. Typically, each blade will last approximately 7,000 linear feet of cutting but this can easily be configured by an operator. The cutter automatically swaps out the blade when the pre-determined linear feet of cutting is reached. This takes less than 5 seconds.
What products don’t work well with PRODecant?
With gravity playing a key role, the exceptions include extremely light products that won’t fall out, products that can get stuck to tape inside box and products that are too tight in the box and will not fall even when base of the box is cut away. Glass or fragile products that will be damaged by dropping into the tote are typically problematic, although may be addressed with a specialty tote solution. This solution cuts cardboard only. Damaged cases are also a challenge for any automated equipment.
Can multiple cases be placed into one tote?
Yes, depending on the product characteristics and sequencing of inbound cases. The system can change the drop location of the case within the tote.
How do I see PRODecant run in person?
We have a unit at our facility in Western Michigan that you can see in person, using your product or generic test product. We also have a mobile version that can be set up within your operation for up to two weeks for testing with your own product.
Does it use vision?
Yes. Vision validates pre-programmed case dimensions.
